Our lead designer, Stephan Koch, is a proud member of the National Ice Carving Association, the authority on ice carving in America.  As a proud member he competes at several ice carving competitions every year all over the US and even competed in Canada this year.  The NICA has the most comprehensive judging criteria for ice carving compeititons worldwide.

"The main difference between business carving and competition carving," says Stephan, "is the level of finish and realism we are able to bring to a competition sculpture as opposed to a carving that needs to last while it sits on the buffet for 8 hours."  Because competitions are generally held in a freezing environment during the Winter months sculptures can be created to be very delicate, daring, and exciting.  Stephan is always looking to find that transcendant quality in his competition sculptures--that quality that makes the viewer suck in their breath and say, "Wow!"

While every sculpture we do is a work of art, a competition quality sculpture is a sculpture that is taken to the furthest level of completion possible in a freezing environment.

We are always designing new competition sculptures and often practice them outside before the competition.  Would you like us to practice out competition designs in front of your place of business this coming Winter?  Give us a call and we'll talk.
